MERGS New Website
One of the dopest illustrators around has just launched a new website exhibiting his work to date, and with pieces like the Fela Kuti portrait above you can see why people are queuing up to work with the man they call Mergs. With a list of clients that include Nike, Jay-Z’s Artful Dodger, Nooka Watches, Vice Magazine and Kid Robot, it’s clear to see big things are in store for this up and coming designer and artist. Don’t cycle alongside large vehicles…
I nearly got killed by a bus yesterday, which was nice. I was cycling up alongside it when the driver decided to turn left without checking his mirrors, so I started to get dragged under the bus and could hear the sounds of crushing bike and punctured petrol tank. Luckily I somehow managed to get my leg out from under the bus and ended up standing in the road in a stream of gushing petrol with nothing but a slightly cut thumb and a completely mangled bike to show for it, while 40 people screamed around me and the emergency services scrambled 3 fire engines, an ambulance, a police van, a motorbike paramedic and a helicopter. At least the bike lock is still usable.
Moral of the story: never, ever ride alongside anything bigger than a car.
Thanks to the generous people at Carhartt for the bike, it was good while it lasted…
Ghostface Killah & DJ Lomang
Now I’d hate people to think that we like to capitalise on people’s deaths because it ain’t how we roll. That said, today’s post follows hot on the heals of Mr. MJ’s departure and is all about the late / great Mr. ODB. A good while back we dropped the Ol’ Dirty tee as a little nod to our favourite member of the Wu. It’s been a big seller and we even got one over to GZA a while back. However hard we’ve tried we’ve never managed to get one over to our new favourite member of the WU - Ghostface….quite simply we just don’t mix in the same circles. So I was pretty stoked a while back to spot this shot on Facebook of DJ Lomang sporting the tee with the man himself.
