This Saturday sees the return of StreetFest to east London. The last two installments of this unique live art/fashion/music event were a huge success, and Second Son have been asked to put on a fashion show this time round.
Now we’re not too well versed in the art of vogueing and Blue Steel, so we’ve put together something a little different featuring the catwalk prowess of Nash Money and Raskitt and performances from Professor Green, Session and Reeps One.
We were also invited by Adidas to create 8 pairs of Second Son kicks using their ‘mi Originals’ system, all of which will be shown for the first time on Saturday.
The fashion show will start at 7pm and we’ll also have a stall set up where you can get your hands on Second Son products including the very last of our new Spitfire and Deer Hunter button-up shirts. The event also features live art from the likes of Mergs and Secret Wars alongside music, independent film and skate demos on a 30ft vert ramp.

Hot110 recently caught up with us to ask us some fairly in depth questions, and we really enjoyed answering them. So head on over to their site and have a butchers at us getting in to a spot of ‘introspection’ before dusting off a our elbow patches for a particularly violent bit of Ludacris inspired moshing…you know, ‘throwin dem bows’…Nah we didn’t really…did we…?
This week saw the passing of one of, if not the greatest superstars of all time, Michael Jackson. Like so many people around the world we were all deeply moved and upset by the man’s untimely death, as fans of his songs and as respectful witnesses to the exponential impact he had on music, fashion and culture.
The Thriller tee, part of this season’s Occult Status Spring/Summer collection, was born out of that impact. As kids of the 80s when Jackson was at the height of his fame, albums like Thriller and Bad were premier editions to young and burgeoning record collections. In anticipation of his upcoming London tour dates, it felt like the perfect time to pay homage to one of our childhood heroes.
In the wake of his unexpected passing, Rufus and I caught wind of a tribute Flashmob-moonwalk at Liverpool Street station, and decided to head down with an arm full of Thriller Tees to give away, have a boogie MJ style, and share what turned out to be a fantastic tribute to the King of Pop. Finding our way on to CNN was somewhat of a ‘happy accident’, but I think you’ll agree Jacko’s moves are alive and well in the form of Rufus Exton…
One of the most talented rappers these shores have produced in recent years, Professor Green has just dropped the video for his highly anticipated track ‘Hard Night Out’ on Youtube & Myspace, featuring garmentry supplied by us here at Second Son.
The track is produced by Epydemix and this video is crazy, with Pro Green alongside hypeman and producer Cores and Adam Deacon, as well as midgets, hot chicks, and a whole host of weird and wacky characters lining up to act hard. This one is well worth checking out.
The song will be released on July 6th, and is the first release on Professor Green’s own label Green Music. The B-side is ‘Upper Clapton Dance‘ featuring Chynaman and production by Cores, a video for which is on its way.
We’re taking part in the Reset project this weekend (2nd / 3rd May) at Nike’s 1948 space in Shoreditch. The event is a pop-up market featuring twelve independent UK brands and there will be DJs and refreshments as well. The weather is set to be good so this should be a banger: please come down and have a look / spend all your money…
